In 2022, laptop sales continue increasing beating desktops sales. By the end of 2021, there was a sales growth triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. Eric Smith, an analyst at Strategy Analytics, says that in the second half of 2021, the demand for laptops with Chrome OS decreased (almost by half), but sales of Windows devices increased sharply in all regions of the world.

This means that almost every laptop has a microphone, and many have cameras. It turns out that for normal calls you no longer need to buy separate headsets and WEB cameras, as it was before.
On the top of the list is Lenovo, HP, Dell, Acer, and Apple. The first 4 are traditionally Windows and Linux, while Apple is in 4th place with its macOS, bypassing Acer and other lesser-known manufacturers.
Therefore, when we look for a solution for ourselves, we want the program to work not only on one operating system but, if possible, everywhere.

Two issues: we need a messenger program for voice and video calls that work without the Internet and calls must be with good quality without noise, echoes, or slowdowns.
Today, you can't surprise people with calls in messengers for smartphones. WhatsApp, Skype, Viber, and Telegram generally work on Windows laptops, but if the Internet does not work or is unstable, there will be no calls. And no regular chat too :) The situation is worse for Linux and macOS. There are programs for some OS, and there are not, or they are in beta.
